The basic premise behind European Delivery (ED) is that you are saving money on your new BMW, like a brand new Chicago BMW X6, by picking up your car in Munich, Germany, vacationing in Europe while driving around your new car, then having it shipped to the United States as a used car.   BMW shipping the car as used helps the owner avoid the duties that often come with an imported car.  Does this sound too good to be true?  Maybe, maybe not.

The first thing a driver would do is choose their Chicago X3 or classic 3 Series or 5 Series.  By using European Delivery, you can save up to 7 % off the retail price, up to about $5,000.  Next, you plan your trip.  Lufthansa Airlines is offering any ED user and a companion a buy one, get one free ticket to fly to Munich, where you will pick up your BMW model at the BMW Welt.  This is the center stage for BMW cars.  Tours are available of the production center, museum, etc.

Then, you can pick the journey you want to take through Europe.  Different vacation scenarios are available to choose from where you can enjoy your 7 Series Chicago driving along the Mediterranean, through the mountains of Switzerland, or through the Black Forest, just to name a few.  The trip concludes by dropping off your BMW to your choice of several different drop off locations throughout Europe.  E.H. Harms, the designated shipping company, will then send your car overseas, where it will be dropped off in your driveway.  This can take 4-10 weeks, depending where in the U.S. you live.

This sounds great, and I am sure this program is an awesome way to see the beauty the European Nations have to offer.  I can’t think of a better way to take a trip overseas than with a new Chicago X3 to drive around.
