2011 BMW Alpina B7 is the cinderella of the 7 series

2011 BMW Alpina B7 is the cinderella of the 7 series

The newest member of the 7 Series Chicago lineup is going to be amazing.  The Alpina B7 has quite a bit of greatness about it.  Let’s see what BMW has put in their new auto.

The Alpina recently showed it stuff at the Chicago Auto Show in mid-February.  Sadly, I could not go this year, so a few close friends spied it for me and gave their opinion.  Both of them loved the color, the deep, royal blue that was a welcome change from your regular black, gray, and white car colors.  Another eye-catching feature were the wheels.  They are 21 inches and have 20 spokes.  The spokes are an attractive silver color with the Alpina badge in the middle.

The rear and front spoilers further set this apart from other 7 Series Chicago models.  They also have a role in the performance of the car.  The front spoiler increases downforce by 30%.  The one on the B7’s rear ups downforce by 15%.  The front spoiler also cools the transmission and oil coolers.

The engine in the Alpina model really revs up the power.  It provides 500 HP, more than other Chicago 5 series models. For example, the “550i model comes packing a 407 hp”, and that is the top of the line model for the 5 series lineup.  The B7 has a 4.4L, v8 engine.  Moreover, the sedan can go from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds- how amazing is that!?!

The Alpina model has some systems to help the performance of the car.  The Dynamic Damping Control helps the driver and passenger ride in comfort, not matter what the surface is like.  The dampers will adapt to the road’s conditions, making for a smoother ride on bumpy terrain.  The Active Roll Stabilization helps the B7 have better handling.   The anti-roll system is also found in the Chicago 5 Series.

The 2011 B7 will be a great model for BMW.  It joins an already superb line up of new models on the lot at your favorite dealer.  Great deals are on the table, visit them now!

M Power app for iPhone

M Power app for iPhone

A new app on your iPhone will be able to work in conjunction with your Chicago 5 Series.  It is called the M Power app and it can be downloaded for free…What are you waiting for?  Try it out now.

What this application does is allow the driver to see how long it takes to accelerate up to a certain speed, factoring in distance.  For example, you want to see how long it takes for your Chicago BMW X6 to go from 0-50 mph?  You can set the app to calculate that for you.  The applications default is set for 0-30ish mph (30 mph equals 50 km/h).  The M power app also figures distance, seconds, maximum forward, and maximum lateral stats for your Chicago BMW M5.

If you don’t have an iPhone and aren’t interested in all these fancy apps, that’s okay too!  Perhaps you’d just like to get some information on several BMW models….The 2010 Chicago 5 Series starts out around $45K for a basic model and comes in several trims.  For example, the 528i  comes with a 3.0L, 6 cylinder engine.  Antilock brakes comes standard and it has a beautiful interior.  The outside of the sedan is made with aluminum, which is the metal that BMW is looking to use in the manufacturing of all their autos.

The Chicago BMW m5 has the most powerful engine of BMW cars: a 500 HP, V10- wow, that’s a fast ride!  But, with a more powerful engine, the trade off is lower mpg fuel efficiency.  But, it’s a luxurious, sportier sedan for the right driver!   The interior is made of fine leather and has a good sound system.  Definitely worth checking out.

The Chicago BMW X6 is a crossover style vehicle and a great choice if you need some extra cargo room.  It is one of the first to have BMW’s “M” badge, a system that enables the car to have excellent steering and handling.  It also allows the driver to select gears.   The X6 also comes with Dynamic cruise control, keyless entry, and a dual zone climate control.

So, back to the M power app- try it out if you want- something new and exciting to have on your iPhone!  Also, the 5 Series, M5, and Chicago BMW X6 are three great autos that BMW has made to satisfy a driver’s preferences.  Check them out today!

Racing Dynamics Gets Hands on 2011 BMW 5 Series

Racing Dynamics Gets Hands on 2011 BMW 5 Series

The Chicago 5 Series is going to get very exciting when the 2011 models appear on showroom floors!  Racing Dynamics (RDSport) , based in Italy, is planning to make the new 5 series more supercharged, powerful, and fun to drive!

The 2 model options that may be available at your BMW Chicago dealer are: 410HP 535i R35 and a 620HP 550i R50S.  Certainly long names that you hope will provide a powerful punch at the wheel!  RDSport is working to make the engine in the 535i R35 capable of going from 0-60 in a little over 5 seconds!  The R35 model will also have a V6 engine with a “twin-scroll turbocharger”.   Definitely a big step up in power compared to other Chicago used BMW 5 Series models!

The 550i R50S model will most likely have a v8 engine with a 4.4 liter engine, and the R35 will have  a 3.0 liter engine.  These new BMW Chicago cars will also be stocked with quality amenities one expects with a BMW product.

For example, the Chicago 5 Series coming out soon will feature the four-wheel steering found in the 7 series.  Another feature is the lane- departure warning system.  This is activated just before you start to veer out of your lane…The system will make the steering wheel gently vibrate.  It is then deactivated when the indicator is used, so the driver isn’t thrown off course by multiple signals.  I know this is a feature that my friend’s Chicago used BMW 5 Series does not have and she wishes it did!

Some other features the new 5 Series will have are the radar-based adaptive cruise control, head-up display, and night-vision system with pedestrian detection.  The night vision system will give the driver a heads up of any people or animals within 300 meters of the car.  The head-up display gives the driver any important information right in it’s path of vision, such as alerts of possible traffic patterns coming up.   The Chicago 5 Series is a car with quite a bit of great features to help keep the driver and passengers safe.

After getting all of this information, I cannot wait to cruise around in one of these new 2011 5 series when they are on lots….Even if I don’t own one, a test drive will be very exciting!

2011 1-Series Preview: More Powerful Than Predecessors

2011 1-Series Preview: More Powerful Than Predecessors

BMW is working on a revamped 1 -Series that will be more “revolutionary” compared to other Chicago used BMW 1 Series.  The exciting new model will be on display in 2011 at a major auto show.  Let’s take a look at some of the feature information that has been released.

BMW is looking to give the 1-Series several body options:  five and three door hatch, 2 door coupe (sedan-like), 2 door convertible, and a possible crossover that would be a 5 door mix of the hatch, wagon, and sedan. A possible Supersports model may make it into the inventory as well. If all these make it into the lineup, BMW Chicago fans will have a lot to cheer about!

BMW is also in the process of engineering a range of four-cylinder engines that would most likely be sold in the U.S.  A 3 cylinder engine may be an option in BMW’s sold in Europe.  The company is planning to have Chicago 1 Series engines turbocharged and direct-injection types.  They’ll also be making the 1-Series with a range of horsepower allowing for maximum driving enjoyment!

On the outside, there are some notable changes in the new BMW Chicago car.  There will be new headlights and tailights that are LED, giving off that bluish hue that will help the 1-Series get many second looks!  The upright grille and fascia that first appeared on 2009 7-Series may also be on the Chicago 1 Series.

The VisionEfficient Dynamics Concept will also be incorporated into the new 1-Series, as BMW is working make their autos a little more “green”.  This is a change from the type of fuel comsumption found on other Chicago used BMW 1 Series autos. The VisionEfficient Dynamic concept’s main function is to maximize fuel consumption and lessen CO2 emissions, while still providing powerful cars.

This BMW Chicago is in the process of being test driven and fully developed overseas at BMW’s plants in Germany.  I believe this 1-series will be a great car worth taking a test drive when it hits the lots in the next year to a year and a half.
