Does it seem kind of strange to see BMW and green auto in the same phrase?  Many people, including myself, think of other automakers such as Toyota (with their Prius Hybrid), as being more of a “green” automaker.  Let me explain how this works and how this luxury car giant received this title for the fifth straight year.

This honor is fueled by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.  The DJSI was created back in 1999 and it globally tracks the financial performances of the “leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide”.  This designation gives drivers an even better reason to head to their Chicago BMW dealer.

What is BMW doing in the designing, building and recycling of their products that makes them green?   One vehicle, the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept car is an amazing looking car that is a hybrid.  It can be powered by either a turbo diesel engine or on electric mode.  If you own a 7 Series Chicago,this is a model you could move on up to.  In 2008, BMW also launched the X5 Vision Hybrid SUV.   It reduces fuel consumption and cuts down on the amount of CO2 released into the air.

Also, BMW recycles the materials used in their vehicles.  The company is very conscious of doing this before, during and after production of their vehicles.  They use recycled synthetics and carefully separate the materials used during manufacturing.  The company ensures its owners that their used BMW Chicago will be recycled quickly and efficiently.
